We are your typical American family living in the Midwest, with children growing up and moving out to go to school, begin careers, start families of their own, and find their own adventures. Our family was established in June 1984 when Michael and Shannon were married, and we’ve been growing ever since. We now have five children and one son-in-law, and all our children are finding their own successes with their unique gifts, talents, and abilities. We are so very proud of each of our children, and with our last child finishing up high school soon, we created this blog to keep in touch and share our experiences with each other, our extended family, and our friends around the world.
We are committed to being good Christians and members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or “Mormons.” Both sides of our family have been Mormons for many generations, and our children are carrying on this commitment with their own strong testimonies of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. So much of what we do and of who we are revolves around our beliefs that it is pretty much impossible to separate the story of our lives from the story of our faith. This blog will undoubtedly include many references to the Church, various opportunities (such as full-time missions) within the Church, ordinations, callings, and so on.
We launched this blog during our first official Call Family Reunion in August 2013. We had a great time being together for the first time in nearly two years. We saw some local Church history sites, played games, went to church meetings, attended John’s Eagle Court of Honor, watched 24, ate home-grown steak, and otherwise had a great time.
Welcome to the Call Family!
